Texas Oncology is looking for a Phlebotomist II to join our team!  This position is for the Abilene, Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country and has approximately 600+ providers in 220+ sites across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma.  Our founders pioneered community-based cancer care because they believed in making the best available cancer care accessible to all communities, allowing people to fight cancer at home with the critical support of family and friends nearby. The ideal candidate for the Phlebotomist II will have the following background and experience: 
  • High school diploma is required as well as Phlebotomist License
  • Position needs at least 4 years of experience. 

What does the Phlebotomist II do?
 The Phlebotomist under direct supervision, is responsible for the collecting and processing of specimens from patients. Follows quality assurance and safety policies and procedures. Assists with patient flow as needed. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
 
The essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Properly identifies and bands patients for blood product transfusion. 
  • Processes properly labeled specimens according to our policy and procedures. 
  • Operates designated laboratory equipment as directed.
  • Prefer to have experience with Harvest and Copia Laboratory systems.
