Advantage Resourcing has an exciting direct hire opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to work with our client at a petrochemical plant in La Place, LA. We can offer an opportunity to showcase your expertise and skills needed to assist with technical and operational support for manufacturing and engineering chloroprene-based products.

Pay: $125,000 -$160,000/yr. (Based on experience)

While working as a Mechanical Engineer you will report to the Manufacturing Technology Manager and provide day-to-day technical expertise, while leading both strategic long-term projects as well as addressing short-term operational issues. This position will be responsible for resources to act for the company in matters pertaining to the successful progress and completion of assigned projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversight and direction of all project execution activities, develop and lead a high-performing project team, and review unique execution strategies and decision-making processes to address these situations.
  • Be the only contact for technical and projects with the customers from project development, maintain a safe work environment, ensure completion of projects, be willing to learn new computer programs and processes to manage projects and provide oversight and leadership to on-site contract engineering design groups for assigned projects.
  • Manage projects using the gated process, understand complex project plans, drawing specifications, and schedules, ensure accurate and timely project documentation, review RFQ/RFP documents, coordinate with the Construction Coordinator and project field staff, and perform regular inspections of all work performed on assigned project.
  • QA/QC inspections that may include travel to other states, working with the Technical Manager on the bid mark-up, enforcing compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, safety standards, and contracts, preparing monthly budget forecasts and yearly spending outlook, and reporting project and budget status to management monthly.
  • Prepare equipment specifications, coordinate training to production, maintenance, and other departments, keep current on recent technology and equipment, maintain all project drawings, files, and specifications, coordinate document control plan, and contribute to the safe operation of the plant.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from ABET Accredited University Program, 5 or more years of mechanical engineering experience, 5 years of industrial plant experience, and broad-based knowledge of mechanical engineering principles in relation to chemical reactors, distillation, heat transfer, mass transfer, thermodynamics, and filtration.
  • Fundamental understanding of PSM systems, high-hazard processes, and root cause failure analysis, demonstrated knowledge of corporate standards, familiarity with RAGAGEP, ASME Code, and API standards, and Six Sigma green belt certification a plus.
  • Must have proven success in leading projects and teams, be proactive and able to work independently, know when to collaborate for decision making, have strong communication skills, both written, and verbal, and knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required, and experience working in a multinational environment, working with high alloy materials, and working in a multinational environment is desirable.
